Links to Your Recruitment Site from Other Websites

Links

It is believed that having keyword links back to your website from other websites can have a positive effect on SEO (search engine optimisation). This type of external promotional activity is often called off-site SEO.

However, most SEO experts believe this issue is less important now, compared with 5 or 10 years ago. The main reason why inbound links are considered to be less important nowadays is because many new ranking factors are considered more important, including social media popularity and mobile-friendliness.

Even so, good-quality inbound linking is considered to be a valuable asset when it comes to SEO planning.

You should think about high-quality relevant links (from websites about content about jobs, HR, employment, your business location, etc) because this is about quality – and not the number of links back. For example, a link from a sports site to your recruitment website might actually do more harm than good, but it is more likely to have little or no impact.

You can consider adding your site to website directories which provide a link back to your site and very often directory services are available free of charge.

For the best results, it is believed that the link wording itself (the appearance of the link) should be a keyword phrase, and not just the name of your domain name. For example, supposing your employment service business is called Sharp Recruitment Services, your website URL is SharpRecruitment.net and you specialise in accountancy jobs in London. In that senario, we believe it is better if a link pointing at your website looks like this: accountancy jobs in London and not like this: www.sharprecruitment.net.

Widen the appeal of your website and get links to other pages on your job site, not just your home page. For example, if your recruitment site has a web page offering job interview tips: www.sharprecruitment.net/job-interview-tips.cfm, then try to get a link entitled job interview tips pointing at that page. Even better, try to get a link from another web page which contains content about job interviews.

The Importance of Quality Over Quantity

Do not use link farms and link building services from companies and individuals who offer to create a high number of links to your website. It is believed this approach can be damaging for SEO and there is no value in having a sudden inundation of poor-quality links directed at your job site.

External Links from Social Media Sites

Also consider that when you create a social media account, such as a Facebook business page or Twitter account, you will be able to create links back to your recruitment website.

Please also consider that links to your website which are backed up with Facebook likes or Twitter tweets are going to carry more value when it comes to SEO.
